Lake Huron Fish and Chips Co. GIVEAWAY!!!

One of my favourite spots on Manitoulin Island is without a doubt, Providence Bay. Beautiful turquoise/aquamarine water, white sand, and stretches upon stretches of gorgeous beach make one feel like they are in paradise.

What's even better is that close by this pristine island paradise is Lake Huron Fish and Chips Co. The restaurant/cafe is an established business and Lake Huron Fish and Chips is known for their fish and chips. Obviously!

What you might not know, however, is that the ownership has recently changed hands. Along with the new ownership comes new ideas, new faces, and new energy. I imagine Lake Huron Fish and Chips Co. will become a hub of excitement and quite possibly be "the place to be" in Providence Bay!

Matthew Garniss (the owner) has brought in some healthy additions to the menu. He has included a veggie sandwich and a variety of juices (among other options). My favourite by far are the Naked Smoothies!

Though standard fare at any fish and chips joint is fish and chips, if fish isn't your cup of tea, there are other options as well. The hamburgers are HOMEMADE and made from LOCAL ground beef. How amazing is that?!
The fries? Hand cut!
Breakfast is also offered. At the moment, bagels, muffins, cookies and coffee are offered beginning at 7AM. Lunch starts at 11AM and closing time is at 7PM.

Location: 20 McNevin St., Providence Bay, (Manitoulin Island) Ontario
Phone: 705.377.4500
Wed - Thurs: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
Fri - Sun: 7:00 am - 8:00 pm
Lake Huron Fish and Chips is a cozy, friendly place to eat.
In celebration of the grand opening of Lake Huron Fish and Chips Co. (under new management and ownership), they are offering a great giveaway!

Father's Day is Just Around the Corner!

When I was a kid, I'd always get my Dad a new tie for Father's Day. It seemed like "the thing" to give to Dad on Father's Day. Who knew that most dads never really wanted a tie for Father's Day! But, like any good parent, Dad graciously accepted his yearly tie. I never found out about his aversion to ties until I was in high school! He just had so many and he seemed to need that many for all the business trips, conventions, meetings, and whatnot.

Well, the good news is that all men look great dressed up...even if we can only get them all gussied up once a year or so! Even better is the fact that Mom vs. the Boys is having a fabulous giveaway! Just in time for Father's Day!

One lucky reader will win a tie of their choice by entering the contest here. ABC Neckties has a wide variety of styles and colours, and they are all very affordable!

Every man needs a few good ties! We've got three weddings this summer and we're in two of them! Hubs definitely needs a new tie for the occasions! The groom for one of the weddings is giving his groomsmen ties, but Hubby's on his own for the other weddings. Remember, I married a farmer. He cleans up pretty nicely, but getting him to wear a suit and tie is like pulling teeth. I donated/gave away/threw out his old ties because they were so outdated and...well, UGLY! Ironically, he seemed attached to the one I hated the most. I called it his KFC tie! You know Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken? Well, Hubby's tie looked like the one Colonel Sanders wears in the KFC pics.I'm not sure if Hubby was actually joking when he said he couldn't part with his KFC tie. I sure hope he was joking!!

Definitely time for a new tie. ABC Neckties, here we come!

While you're reading this, why don't you head on over to Mom vs. the Boys? :)

Have Your Cake and Eat it Too! An awesome GIVEAWAY!!!

What a silly expression. Why would you have a cake and not eat it?

Anyway, I am so very excited to share this with you. There's a new business in Toronto that specializes in event planning. The Right Events is run by a wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, fun and dynamic husband and wife duo.

If you're in Toronto or the GTA, you may want to consider them for your next function. Their vision and meticulous attention to detail will amaze you. Who needs to fuss with details and planning if you can avoid it?

I love the planning part and thrive on the craziness of organizing all the food/menu, decorations, and everything else. That's just me though. Sometimes, however, I would just like to kick back and let someone else do all the work...so I could just kick back with my guests and not worry about a thing. I would much rather have Ryan and Erin plan my events instead!!!

Not only do Ryan and Erin run The Right Events, but they also make CAKES!!!
Here are but a few of their latest creations:

Of course, it only gets better! One very lucky reader will WIN A CAKE ESPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR YOU by Erin and Ryan at The Right Events! The lucky winner will be chosen at random.

How great is THAT!? If you've got a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion coming up (Ummmm...Father's Day perhaps?), what better way to celebrate than with a fantastic cake?!

Here's how to win:

1) Leave me a comment (MANDATORY) and let me know what your favourite cake is or what kind of cake you'd like The Right Events to make for you.

Additional 2 entries per each of the following:
2) Follow me via Google Friend Connect (on my sidebar).
3) Follow me via Twitter (@chancesmommy) and tweet this contest.
4) Grab my button (on my sidebar).
5) Blog about this contest and send me the link to your post.

6) An additional FIVE entries if you head over to The Right Events and follow them via Google Friend Connect and leave them a comment on their blog!!!

**Contest open only to residents of Toronto and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). Deadline for entries: May 25, 2010.**

Sesame Street: Let's Make Music Giveaway

I grew up watching Sesame Street. Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie...They were all favourites of mine as a kid. My earliest memories are of learning the alphabet and numbers while watching my Sesame Street friends on TV. I even learned about sharing, problem solving, and friendship from the show. Fun and music are incredible tools for early learning.

I always hoped that I would be able to share part of my childhood with my own kids one day, and that included sharing my love of Sesame Street.

The Mommy Diaries is hosting a fantastic giveaway. She is giving away Sesame Street: Let's Make Music to one lucky reader.

In her review, The Mommy Diaries writes:

"Let's Make Music features cast members from the show STOMP. They help the Sesame Street characters explore music and rhythm. It's a very simple story with a wonderful message.
Telly lost his tuba and is very sad because he can't make music anymore. He learns from Elmo and the rest of the cast that he can make music with almost anything around him. Bottles, cans, hands, feet, etc".

This sounds like the perfect DVD for all kids (and adults!) who love music and love Sesame Street.

To enter the contest, head on over here to find details.

Who is YOUR favourite Sesame Street character? :)

A Chocolate Lover's Dream

"Oh, don't try it! You won't like it. It's horrible!", said Hubby (in hopes that no one would eat the cake and that he'd get to keep it to himself).

You may remember that I recently had the opportunity to attend the Choco-Latte Fest in Little Current last month. Ultimately Chocolate and Loco Beanz put on a great evening of chocolate and coffee tasting. It was a mini workshop on everything chocolate and everything coffee. Trust me, these ladies really know their stuff! It's no wonder that chocolate and coffee have become their passion and their craft!

Ever since that night, I've been excited about having Ultimately Chocolate on the Island. Why? Well, for starters, they specialize in CHOCOLATE! Ultimately Chocolate brings gourmet cakes and cupcakes to Island residents and they use only the finest and all-natural ingredients. The use of certified organic and fair trade chocolate coupled with the fact that the chocolate creations are preservative-free, make one's occasional indulgence of chocolate a little less of a guilty pleasure!

For Mother's Day, we got the Caramel Crackle! It's four layers of moist chocolate cake with butter cream icing. The Caramel Crackle is a smooth caramel buttercream icing layered in your choice of chocolate or vanilla cake (we chose chocolate, of course!) and decorated with crunchy caramel bits. The top is covered with rich chocolate and some caramel. The cake is mouthwatering! I only had a sliver of chocolate decadence. Pure heaven. The cake just melts in your mouth. It's soooooo good. Both grandmas had a slice of cake and were in LOVE. The cake is so rich and so decadent that only a small piece will suffice...if you can restrain yourself. Surprisingly, we still have 3/4 of the cake left. Hubby is trying to be good and save some for our dinner guests tomorrow night.
Psssssst! Keep reading the blog for more posts on Ultimately Chocolate, their new website (which I'll post once it's up and running), and even an amazing Ultimately Chocolate giveaway to one lucky reader of Random Thoughts and Musings from the Island Reviews!!! Exciting stuff to come!

Mrs. Smith's Diaper Bag Contest!!!

Every Mom knows how difficult it is to "keep things together", and when going out with babes in tow, it's not always easy to make sure you have everything. For myself, there's always something I've forgotten (even when I have a list of things I need to bring). Most of the time it's my cell phone I've forgotten to put in my bag or an extra bib. I once forgot to bring baby wipes! How crazy is that?!

I have several diaper bags. Too big. Too small. Stylish, but impractical. Super ugly, but practical. I end up having to alternate between bags depending on the nature of our excursions. Small bag for grocery trips, giant bag for swimming days...you get the picture.

I still somehow can't find anything really quickly in any of the bags. I always have to fish around and what I need is usually at the bottom of the bag!

Enter Mrs. Smith's Bags.

With tons of features like insulated compartments for food, a place for Mom's sunglasses, camera and cell phone, this bag is fantastic! Added insulated pockets give room for sippy cups or bottles. Hey, why not carry a bottle of water for Mom and a bottle of milk for baby in there? There's also a spot for Mom to put cash or a debit card. The compartments keep things organized, which is what I love. What I love even more is that there are different styles and designs to choose from. Practical does not have to look frumpy!

Jen over at A Busy Mommy is hosting a fabulous giveaway! Head over there to enter for your own Mrs. Smith's Diaper Bag!
