Check out how tiny she was in that infant car seat!
Three years ago today, we brought our little bundle of joy home to the Island. After seventy days in the NICU, two weeks in the Level II Nursery, and a transfer to the biggest regional hospital closest to us, we were finally able to have our baby home with us and in our arms.
We were flown from Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto to Sudbury, where Little One had to stay at the hospital for a few more days before we could take her home.
That was three years ago.
This is now.
Just to give you some perspective, Hubby pointed out that this cheese weighs just a little less than Little One did at birth. I think this was 800 g or so. Little One was 980 g. That's just over 2 lbs of butter (or in this case, cheese)! Now Little One is a very busy, active, happy girl.
Time seems to have flown by at the blink of an eye.
This post brought tears to my eyes - happy three year anniversary little one. You are so loved!!

I love that song!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that she has grown so much- so healthy and beautiful. What a little miracle girl :) Happy homecoming anniversary little one!
Thank you so much, Tara. Little One and I poured over all her photos from her life in the NICU all the way up to her life now. She's only just turned 3 years old, but gets so emotional too. It's really sweet to see her look at the photos and ask questions.
DeleteAwww what a gorgeous, precious gift. Happy 3 years since coming home wee one. I just want to give you both giant hugs.
ReplyDeleteAwww! Thanks, my lovely friend! Hopefully one day soon we can exchange giant hugs! xoxox
DeleteWow, she was so tiny. She certainly has come a long way. My dd and her would love eachother
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are unbelievable, she is beautiful. Happy homecoming :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :) There were times when we weren't sure if we were ever going to leave the NICU! LOL! It seemed like FOREVER that we were in there! Now, it's hard to believe that any of that ever happened!
DeleteMy gal was 5.5 weeks premature and 4 lbs (dropped right after birth mind you) but luckily she was only in the NICCU for a week. I cannot imagine what you went through; it was rough enough for a week. I literally cried everyday for all the babies and their parents in the NICCU. Happy anniversary! Oh my how your girl has grown into a happy and healthy little being. What a difference time makes. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Yet another preemie mama! I met so many preemie mamas at SCCTO and on the CBN! Amazing. Where was this preemie mama support group when I was in the NICU? lol :)
Deleteoooh sooo tiny, just look at her now! you did good mama! must be all that ontario beef you've been feeding her!
ReplyDeleteWhat a true blessing! It really is a miracle! She's definitely a fighter! Celebrating this is a MUST!
ReplyDeleteOh she's just lovely, bless your hearts for the challenges you've faced.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! It's fantastic to read happy stories like this. It made me smile to see her 3 years later! Amazing! It is not crazy in any way to celebrate her homecoming. Under ANY circumstances! :)
